The Sydney University Photographic Society - Photosoc - was ‘born out of passion’ in 1947 from just eight members who shared a love of photography. Since then, the society has flourished into one of the most active on campus, catering to all levels of photography enthusiasts from the seasoned professional to the lomographer to the iPhone travel blogger, and everyone in between.
Every year the society hosts a catalogue of photography-themed events, providing plenty of opportunities for you to enrich both your photographic skills and your social life. Our highlights include our famous Disposable Camera Pub Adventure, lighting and Photoshop workshops, major exhibitions, photo-walks, parties, free fortnightly lunches for members, photo competitions and consistent photography workshops (both digital and film, as well as Lightroom and Photoshop) to get you shooting like a pro in no time.
And if you're looking for gear, you'll get great discounts and benefits from our sponsors list.
How do I join USYD Photosoc?
You can join us at O-Week, Re-O Day and any of our Fortnightly lunches, or events.
Yearly membership is $5 with a USU Access Card.
How do I find out what events are happening?
What do I get with membership?
You get free access to all our Fortnightly lunches (free food!), workshops, competitions and most events. Pretty good value for $5, we think!
I don't have an Access Card/I don't go to USYD. Can I still get involved?
Unfortunately, you must buy an Access Card to become an official member. However, many of our events are open to non-Access and non-USYD members for a small fee. Follow us on social media and we have all details posted at the bottom of every event.
